BioAulë created the Ents, when Yavanna was worried there would be nobody to protect the trees.
That's what I do. I protect trees. I love my job. I love my trees. (Not that way, sicko.) I live in Fangorn Forest, with a bunch of trees, Ents and Huorns. Huorns are ents that have turned tree-ish, or trees that woke up and became Entish.
Female Ents are called Entwives. Which I think is a little discriminatory... Like they have no purpose except to be somebody's wife? That isn't fair.
Ents like trees and forests, letting nature run it's course. Entwives like gardens, and helping make nature into beautiful things. It was perhaps that contention that lead the Entwives to go off somewhere...
